Mrs. Marjonka Veljanovska, Farmahem's executive manager, took part in the Forum on Philanthropy which was held on 22.05.2024 in h. Double Three by Hilton, Skopje.
As we face the complex challenges of the 21st century, it is important for philanthropy to be a significant mechanism for sustainable development, providing resources, expertise and innovative solutions to address socio-economic challenges. From empowering the marginalized to driving inclusive economic growth, philanthropic efforts play a critical role in advancing and building a more just and sustainable world for all. This was announced by the Forum on Philanthropy which included speakers from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Singapore, Serbia and Croatia and over 80 participants from institutions, businesses, civil society organizations and media.
At this event Konekt also presented the possibilities of the new platform for joint donating "Op-op" that allows donors to give thoughtfully in valuable non-profit organizations that are proven to make big changes. Six civil society organizations that went through the process of checking the high international standards were also awarded the "Trust Mark" certificate and are recommended to donors for support. The Forum shared best practices from the Balkans that include cross-sectoral cooperation in the formation of local foundations, which is a model for solving development problems in the region. Holders of the top executive positions of the local companies, members of Konekt's Responsible Businesses Club, emphasized that joining companies in this sustainability initiative will strengthen their positive impact on the society in cooperation with the civil sector.
The Forum on Philanthropy 2024 sent a clear message to all philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, policy makers, civil society organizations and media to join forces, to create more opportunities, partnerships and new models of enhanced cooperation that encourages growth on the way to sustainable development. This event is part of USAID's Donation Partnerships project implemented by Konekt in partnership with the European Center for Non-Profit Law (ECNL), the Chamber of Commerce of North-West Macedonia, Indigo and the American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia.
